| The Theriault Snowshoes method is a refinement of traditional snowshoes methods of the area that were collaborative methods between First Nations people and early French settlers. Theriault family snowshoes are made from scratch with raw materials, using molds and tools that we designed and produced. | |
| Our methods include selecting the right ash tree in the forest, cutting and forming wood pieces to be used for the frame, fleshing, scraping, and cutting rawhide, and finally weaving rawhide on the ash frame with our own three way patterns.
We love building winter transportation from a bit of rawhide and wood, we think of our snowshoes usable art, and we would like to share our art and craft with you! |
